The climate of the Maldives is warm throughout the year. The monsoons affect the weather in general though they are mild and tempered by the equator, unlike the situation in some neighboring countries. The southwest monsoon blows from through October and brings some wind and precipitation. The northeast monsoon blows from November through April and is usually sunny. The Maldives is usually warm, humid and sunny throughout the year. Average temperature fluctuates between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius. 

Average annual rainfall is at about 2000 millimeters with about 3000 hours of sunshine.

The Maldivian government, in recent years, has [played a key role in bringing to global attention the effects of global warming, sea level rise and environmental degradation. The commitment of the people of the country to follow healthy environmental habits is exemplary.
 
Global Warming
 
The Maldives is certainly one of the most vulnerable countries to the effects of sea level rise. It goes without saying, however, that it is still not too late for concerted international action!
